Forestry Mulching, Land Clearing, and Trail Establishment
Forestry mulching is a land clearing method which uses a machine to selectively cut, grind, and clear unwanted vegetation. Machines used for forestry mulching are able to access densely forested areas which cannot accommodate larger machinery. The machine operator is also able to be selective on what vegetation is mulched/removed. The resulting mulch provides superior erosion protection and reintroduces nutrients back into the soil.
Applications for Forestry Mulching
- Forestry mulchers can be used to establish forest trails and trail systems. Trail systems allow for equipment to be easily mobilized throughout a property, thereby increasing productivity and efficiency of various forest management practices. Mulched trail systems also provide recreational opportunities such as trails for ATV/UTV riding and hiking, as well as provide hunters with better access in and out of their woodlot.
- Forestry mulchers can be used to remove invasive species and other unwanted vegetation. Forestry mulching is an invaluable tool for the management of invasive plant species. Forestry mulching machines can easily access dense areas of vegetation that normally would limit accessibility on foot, allowing for a better kill on invasive plants.
- Forestry mulchers can be used in small-scale land clearing projects. Mulchers can be used to create space or forest openings for planting projects such as food plots and tree planting. Creating forest openings also aids in promoting regeneration of desirable native vegetation.
Our Mulching Equipment
We utilize a New Holland C34 skid steer with a 72″ Diamond drum mulcher attachment. Our mulching attachment produces finely mulched plant material, resulting in a smooth surface and aesthetically pleasing end product. Vegetation up to 9 inches in diameter can safely be removed/grinded.
